Kick-off: 7:15pm

“Last time he was in the dugout when we played their 18s I think I had one of my best ever games so a repeat of that would be nice, but I don't think he'd be too please with that!”

Jack smiles at the prospect of potentially facing his dad and former Albion defender, Adam Hinshelwood, with a competitive spirit embedded into him.

Shannon Ruth speaks highly of this competition and it was good to get an insight from a player perspective.

“It's been really good. I made a brief appearance in the Quarter-Final, but I started against Horsham in the Semi-Final which was a great experience.

“It was probably one of the first times I've played in front of a decent following, so it was good for me to experience that, something I want to do more often.

“We don't get that regularly on a Saturday or whenever we play our games so to play in front of decent crowds is really good for us.

“It's obviously a lot different to what we're used to and it's good to have that difference away from our usual schedule in the Sussex Senior Cup.”

Brighton have faced some tough, physical battles en route to the final including a trip to The Saffrons in the Quarter-Final against a game Eastbourne Town where Jack featured.

“It's a much tougher physical battle against full grown men, you see the difference. We know to do what we usually do but some things just have to be a bit quicker, a bit cuter with things.

“We aren't just going to roll over in that physical battle, we know to roll up our sleeves and step up to it. They aren't going to hand it to us, they are all competitive games, and we have to rise to it."

In terms of playing at the Amex this evening, Jack tells us what it means to the players to gain that experience.

“It's a great feeling stepping out at the Amex - you get a feeling of what it's like to be in the first team, without the crowds. When you get a taste of it you want to do it more and that's what I'm hoping for now.

“You've seen great under-23s players that have played in this final before and you look where they are now, it's 100% inspiring and something you want to follow in the footsteps of.

“If the opportunity comes it will be a pleasure. It's my first year as a full-time professional at the club so to achieve that in the first year would be a big achievement.

“It's been a great experience being in these facilities full-time every day and hopefully it's the start of a long, successful career.”
