The FA Disability Workforce Fund

investing in Disability football...

Since 2016 The FA Disability Workforce Fund (DWF) has seen over £1.5m invested in to Disability Football. The Fund has seen the creation of a network of disability-specific football development officers, each with a remit of retaining and growing participation levels. Sussex County FA has a dedicated Disability Development Officer.

The DWF focuses on:

  • Turn Up and Play - Sussex County FA will be supporting more clubs to run 'Just Play' sessions with a view to setting up more regular activity for youth and female players. Sessions will be promoted when organised.

  • Setting up a Disability Team - Sussex County FA are keen advocates of inclusive football and are keen to encourage clubs and individuals to become involved in disability football. If you are looking to establish a disability specific club, advice and support is available every step of the way. Sussex County FA staff will initially meet with you to discuss plans for starting the session, offer a coach to support and mentor for the first few weeks, and help to continually promote your club.

  • Coach Education - For those interested in developing their knowledge further the Sussex County FA also run a regular Coaching Disabled Footballer's CPD workshops. This is in addition to The FA Coaching Disabled Footballers qualification.
