Play Safe 2023 HERO

Pledging our support for Play Safe 2023

Saturday 30 Sept/Sunday 1 October

At the end of September, English football is set to unite again to promote Play Safe - a national campaign to focus attention of the vital importance of safeguarding in our national game.

Led by The FA, the Play Safe campaign is endorsed by the NSPCC and will be supported this weekend across every level of English football, including the Premier League, EFL, Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship, and across the grassroots game.

We are proud to be supporting Play Safe by making an online Play Safe Pledge, with our board of directors, staff and volunteers, pledging to actively support all of our clubs so they can provide safe and enjoyable football for everyone.

We are also encouraging parents and carers to sign up for the Safeguarding Awareness for Parents & Carers course, on England Football Learning, to help them make an informed choice about the football setting they enrol their children in.

Speaking on the importance of the Play Safe Weekend, our Safeguarding Manager, Annette Madden said: “The Play Safe Weekend is once again a welcome opportunity to focus the attention of everyone involved in Sussex football on the importance of safeguarding.

“Everyone has a role to play in safeguarding, coaches, players, parents/carers, spectator, or volunteers, in order to keep children and young people safe, no matter the football setting.

“EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE, EVERYTIME we are encouraging everyone to WATCH, LISTEN, TALK and ACT if they have any safeguarding concerns.”
