The final of the Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup is due to take place on Wednesday 25 May 2022 between Littlehampton Town and Saltdean United.

Note: Should the score be level after ninety-minutes, the result will be decided by kicks from the penalty mark.

We’re set for a mouth-watering tie at Culver Road on Wednesday night as first vs. second from the Southern Combination Football League (SCFL) Premier Division face off. 

Littlehampton came out on top in the SCFL this season edging the title by four points and scoring an impressive 130 goals in the process. 

Impressive is about what describes The Gold’s achievements this season; promotion means they play Isthmian league football for the first time in the club’s history next season, they won the Peter Bentley Cup, and became the first Sussex side to reach the final of The FA Vase. 

An RUR win would mean a treble winning season for Mitchell Hand and George Gaskin who are at the helm at The Sportsfield.

Littlehampton overcame Hassocks 2-0 in the Semi-Final with Saltdean edging a 1-0 win over Newhaven but both teams were taken into the trenches for the Quarter-Final both winning 4-3 in extra-time against Chichester City and Selsey respectively. 

Saltdean United will be managed by their former Under-23s manager, Luke Carter, on the night who took over from Bryan O’Toole for the remainder of the season. Luke takes charge before departing for Hailsham Town as their new manager and will be replaced by Bradley Sweetman. 

The Tigers' goal tally was also in the hundreds this season and will have a point to prove on the night, eager to beat Littlehampton to the silverware on this occasion.
