Worthing United Girls National Futsal Champions
Worthing United Girls Under-12s have become national futsal champions, winning the Pokémon Youth Futsal Cup at the University of Wolverhampton.
The Pokémon Futsal Youth Cup by England Football gives young players across the country the chance to get involved in this energy-packed game, compete against other teams, and go all the way to the national finals.
Worthing United did just that and after winning their regional heats they got the opportunity to showcase themselves on the big stage at the University of Wolverhampton.
Futsal teams from across the country came together at the University of Wolverhampton, Walsall Campus, to take part in the first ever grand final of the Pokémon Futsal Youth Cup.
The tournament was in the first full season of the Pokémon Youth Futsal Cup and was a showcase of the fantastic club futsal talent in England.
Each of the finals saw some excellent futsal skills all round, with eight teams being crowned as the inaugural champions in their respective group.
Worthing United add to an already highly successful season having already won our Sussex Girls Challenge Cup (Under-12s) earlier this season.
Their coach, James Glover, had this to say after the win: “It’s just been such a fantastic season for the girls and for them to have this opportunity to travel up to Wolverhampton and play in such a big competition is incredible for them.
“We knew it was going to be really tough up there because we were playing against established futsal teams that have played in similar competitions before, but the girls really stepped up.
“My daughter said to me on the way home, ‘it hasn’t really sunk in yet’, and I think it will be like that for a lot of them at this age to achieve something like this, but I am so proud of them all.”
