We are delighted to announce that Jack Taylor has won our Rising Star of the Year Award as part of The FA and McDonald's Grassroots Football Awards.

The awards aim to recognise and reward volunteers, match officials, clubs and leagues across the county who have made a difference to grassroots football in their local community.

Jack has been in charge of Lancing’s Social Media accounts, taking their Twitter page to number one for members of the Southern Combination Football League prior to Lancing’s promotion, as well as populating their website, Facebook and Instagram pages. 

He was instrumental this year in the hosting of zoom meetings and educating the committee with anything technical. His role also took on the COVID Officer position which has been a crucial and very challenging assignment. The Lancing committee have been very proud that as a club they put in measures to reduce the spread of the virus whilst enabling football to be played, all under Jack's guidance.

Jack has great communication skills and works well with committee, management, players, supporters, sponsors, and footballing authorities. He is a great campaigner for equality in football, champions diversity and welfare for all. 

He passionately campaigns within the LGBTQ+ community, educating the club and football throughout Sussex. Jack frequently sends information out to all club members providing everyone with up to date club news along with the latest policy and procedures.

It’s no coincidence to most that Lancing has had its best years since he has been at the club. They have had star players, had many great wins and many stories to share over the last year but one of the biggest assets at Lancing remains, Jack Taylor.

After winning this award, Jack said: "I am delighted to have received this award from Sussex County FA. Grassroots football is a close-knit community, reliant on the dedication of volunteers who serve their club and community. I’m really grateful to have been nominated and to have won this award, and to be entering my fourth year at Lancing."
