England boss’ praise for Run 5k for NHS

Gareth surprises organisers Kevin Keehan and Scott Kirkwood

England manager, Gareth Southgate, made a surprise call to Kevin Keehan and Scott Kirkwood the two Sussex footballers behind the Run 5k for NHS campaign, which has raised over £50,000 for Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS charitable funds.

Having been brought up in Crawley, Gareth has ties with Sussex and made the video the call to thank Kevin and Scott for, in his own words, their “amazing fundraising work”.

Run 5k for NHS was started by Kevin and Scott soon after the UK went into lockdown and has since seen the Sussex football community unite with over 3,000 players, coaches, referees, volunteers, etc. taking part and donating to raise funds for the NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The positive vibe from participants after completing their runs and donating is shared across the Run 5k for NHS Twitter and Instagram pages.
