Date: Sunday 2 February 2020
Kick-off: 14.30pm
Venue: Sussex County FA, Culver Road, Lancing, West Sussex, BN15 9AX

The two sides have already met this season in the Sussex County Women & Girls Football League and Hollingbury Hawks coach, Matthew Hill, says his side can’t wait: “The girls are really excited.  It’s a rare opportunity to play in a County Cup Final. The match-day experience and the way that Sussex County FA make it special is something they’ll always remember.

“Even though they’re from all over Brighton & Hove and go to different schools and are from different backgrounds, they’re a really tight bunch of girls and are looking forward to the experience together as a team.”

Worthing Town coach Sarah Poyntz has highlighted their ‘tense’ run-in to the final as creating a togetherness at the club: “Every round has gone to extra-time so it has been a really tough run of games, pushing the girls to do their best in every round and regardless of the final score!

“We are so proud of them all for not only playing well, but also dealing well with the large squad and the tough decisions that have had to be made.

“The girls have trained hard and really come together as a squad in the build up to the cup run. Having a squad of 24 who are so dedicated and want to help the team succeed is so heart-warming to see.”

Likewise, Hollingbury coach, Matthew Hill, has installed a similar mindset into his group of girls: “I’d be very proud of them (to win the cup). It would be a great reward for them after all the hard work from the last couple of years.

“As a parent too, it’s really nice to be able to say to them that despite all the matches they haven’t won, they have persevered and worked hard and improved massively, regardless of the result, and that’s a great lesson for life.”

Sarah Poyntz also believes regardless of the result, it has been a momentous achievement for her Worthing side: “It would mean a lot for the girls to win as they have worked so hard for it but whatever the result it's a massive achievement to get this far in the cup and we are so proud of them just walking out onto the pitch.

“A win would just top it off. As managers we strive on seeing them grow as players, their technical ability, strength, awareness of the game, mentality and confidence. We have played very good teams to get here, no game has been a walk over, we've battled hard, dug deep and showed amazing teamwork and courage.”
