Pre-season campaign

Time for Matchday?

See how our Matchday app for grassroots clubs has been improved for the new season

The FA Matchday app has been making life easier for grassroots clubs, players, administrators and parents since its introduction two seasons ago.

Who’s in the team? Who are the opponents? Where’s the game? When’s kick-off? Is anyone currently suspended? With Matchday, all the answers are instantly available at your fingertips.

Thanks to a link-up with PayPal, the app also offers a way for players to pay their training or match fees and subs, new kit, transport costs, parties, etc, which also helps your club admin keep on top of things.

And as The FA prepare to resume football across the country and following your feedback, they’ve made more improvements to the app to help make the user experience even better with some great prizes on offer to those who download the app before 30 September.

YOU SAID: As a manager, it’s too difficult and time consuming to get my players or parent/carers into the Matchday app.

SO THEY: Introduced your new SQUAD tab, which means you can invite your players to join Matchday with a single tap or easily invite parent/carers by adding their details. You can then track their progress from ‘Pending’ through to ‘Matchday Active’ once they are registered, and have logged into the Matchday App so you know who in your squad is Matchday ready.

YOU SAID: As a parent/carer, I want to easily access my youth’s profile to confirm availability and make payments. Matchday doesn’t allow for more than parent/carer to-do so - please change this…

SO THEY: In line with FA safeguarding measures, up to five parent/carers can now be assigned to a youth player and all can log in and manage availability and payments for the player.

YOU SAID: As a manager/player/parent/carer, we want to see player performance stats, check out your season totals for appearances, goals, assists, clean sheets, yellow/red cards and sin bins.

SO THEY: In future releases, they will allow you to compare your stats versus teammates, other players in your league and even on a county and nationwide level.

YOU SAID: As a manager/player/parent/carer, we need to see all upcoming fixtures, including league, cup and county cup fixtures…

SO THEY: For the 2020-21 season, teams will have access to ALL fixtures, including county cup games, for the first time in a single list. This will be in Matchday version 6.2 (September)

YOU SAID: As a club secretary or other admin role, we want to be able to access the Matchday app to help with key admin tasks. Currently, only managers can login.

SO THEY: Will open the Matchday app to more roles to allow greater flexibility with managing a team. This will be available in Matchday 6.2 (September)

YOU SAID: The app is slow to use and crashes too often…

SO THEY: Have worked hard to improve the stability of the app, as they knew it wasn’t good enough. They’ve upgraded a large amount of the technology in-line with industry leaders and while work continues on this, they believe the app is better than ever and ready for the new season.

If you’re Matchday ready, you’re eligible for a chance to some great prizes, such as a training session with an England legend or a tour of St. George's Park. Entry is simple, you just need to download the app and log in for the first time before 30 September 2020.
