Bognor Regis Town vs. Chichester City
Sussex Community Shield in aid of the NSPCC
Date: Tuesday 30 July 2019
Kick-off: 7.30pm
Venue: Sussex County FA, Culver Road, Lancing, West Sussex, BN15 9AX

To help celebrate the NSPCC South & Mid Sussex Branch’s 60th anniversary the match will be in aid of the charity and we hope to raise as much as possible to support their fantastic work.

NSPCC are a leading children’s charity in the UK fighting to end child abuse. As an independent charity, NSPCC receives around 90% of its funding from supporters who can help to make sure they can keep every child who needs them safe.

Official statistics, published annually, demonstrate the amount of child sexual abuse recorded by authorities in the year. One in 20 children in the UK have been sexually abused however the problem lies much deeper than official statistics due to most sexual abuse crimes not being reported detected or prosecuted.

Last year, despite a 7.1% drop in income their charitable expenditure increased by £2.4 million. 2018 also marked the end of year two in a five-year strategy to make five million children safer by 2021 and the NSPCC have already helped over 3.7 million children in this time.

There will be a pre-match dinner as well as a raffle including Jennie’s Jams, Sue’s jewellery, Daniel’s Tombola and NSPCC merchandise.

Ken Benham, Chief Executive of the Sussex County FA, said: “We are delighted to be able to continue our support for our charitable partners the NSPCC, and help celebrate the 60th year of the South & Mid Sussex Branch. With the help of the Sussex football community we can hopefully raise as much as possible at the Sussex Community Shield to ensure their valuable work continues.”

Tickets for the Sussex Community Shield match will be sold at the turnstiles on the day, with prices ranging from £7 per adult, £4 for concessions and £1 for children under the age of 16. It is a great opportunity for supporters of both teams to not only support their football club but to also help support NSPCC.
