We have worked with Arun Leisure Centre to launch a new Just Play session aimed at Adult Males. Through The FA Mars Just Play programme, they receive a range of Nike Kit and £200 funding that can be utilised to promote and grow their session.
The session, which is set to start on Monday 6th January, will take place on the 3G pitch from 6-7pm. It is perfect for those who can’t or don’t want to commit to an eight-month long season of matches and training, but still want to play football on a regular basis.
Lee Tillyer, Active Communities Officer at Freedom Leisure has spoken about the new session: “Our just play sessions are aimed at anyone who wants to play football, whether you have played before and getting back into it or are new to the sport.
“There is no commitment to a team or matches and offers a great way to be active. We can't wait to get the sessions started at the Arun Leisure Centre!”
Although this is a session specifically aimed at Adult Males, a Just Play centre can be for both men and women and can be run in a variety of formats. Walking Football and Futsal sessions can also become part of the programme and benefit from the extra funding and promotion.
All sessions are uploaded through the FA’s online events platform for participants to book onto, and session organisers can complete registers through a laptop or phone.
Our Adult Football Development Officer Sean Lofting supports the programme saying: “The Just Play scheme is a fantastic incentive to support both existing and new recreational football sessions to improve the quality of the sessions and the number of participants.”
To meet the criteria for the session, it must be run by a FA Level One coach who also holds an FA Emergency Aid qualification.
Online registers will have to be submitted for each session, but appropriate training will be provided for this.
