Burgess Hill Town supports Non-League Day 2018

Non-League Day 2018

Non-League Day will return on Saturday 13 October 2018

Following yet another successful event last year, Non-League Day will return in partnership with Kick It Out for a seventh year on Saturday 13 October 2018.

Non-League Day was launched in 2010 as an event to give non-league clubs in the English National League System a chance to promote themselves during an international break, when Premier League and EFL Championship clubs have the weekend off, and England are not playing on the Saturday.

As Kick It Out marks 25 years of campaigning for equality in football, seven teams will be dedicating fixtures to football’s equality and inclusion organisation which is a record number.

Burgess Hill Town are one of the seven teams supporting the day with the other clubs being Worksop Town, Southport, Tamworth, Sporting Khalsa, Edgware Town and Kensington Borough.

The seven non-league teams are all planning extra activity around the day to encouragement engagement with a diverse range of communities, including local residents, young people and more.

As part of the initiative Burgess Hill Town will be offering “Football for £1” at their home game against Haringey Borough on Saturday 13 October.

Burgess Hill Town Football Club’s General Manager, John Rattle, said: “We want as many people as possible to come and watch football at their local football club. With no Premier League games over that weekend, we hope supporters come from ‘far and wide’ to the Green Elephants Stadium, to see a good standard of football for just £1 – Under-18’s will still go free!”

Kick It Out’s Grassroots Manager, Tajean Hutton said: “As someone who’s always been involved in grassroots and non-league football, I know how important it is for Kick It Out to have a presence there and spread our message of equality.

“Non-League Day is a brilliant initiative all about getting down to support your local team, and we hope our involvement will help bring local communities closer together with their club, regardless of background.”

As in previous seasons, thousands of pounds are expected to be raised by fundraising fans for good causes led by Non-League Day's official charity, Prostate Cancer UK.

Information on fundraising ideas and other tools for clubs supporting the initiative can be found on Non-League Day’s website.
