Sussex County FA Disability Representative team vs. AFC Bournemouth Disability team in Regional Competition

Disability Representative Squad progress in Regional Cup

Quarter-Final spot secured thanks to two victories in tournament

The Sussex County FA Disability Representative Squad competed in the South East Regional Disability Cup at Hampshire FA’s newly built 3G pitch in Havant.

The competition is in its fourth season and was originally created by a number of County FA Disability Officers to enable players to experience more 11-a-side football as the format for County Disability Leagues is small-sided.

The tournament consisted of two groups of three and the teams included:
AFC Bournemouth
Albion in the Community
Chelsea Foundation
Pompey in the Community
Saints Foundation
Sussex County FA Disability Representative Squad

The Sussex County FA Disability Representative Squad were drawn in a group with fellow Sussex representative Albion in the Community and AFC Bournemouth.

In the first game of the group the two Sussex based teams faced each other with Sussex coming away with a thoroughly deserved 3-0 victory over Albion in the Community after some great link-up play.

The second match was a tighter encounter against AFC Bournemouth, Sussex took the lead and despite the opposition defending and pressing extremely well the team managed to hold on to the narrow advantage winning 1-0.

The two victories sealed a spot in the quarter-finals for Sussex along with the victors from the other group - Saints Foundation.

This was the first time that the Sussex County FA Disability Representative Squad had played in a competitive environment.

Sussex County FA is due to host one of the quarter-finals of the regional tournament on Saturday 7 April 2018 and this will take place at Steyning Town Community Football Club. Two teams from the quarter-final groups will progress into the semi-final:
