Inclusive FA Level 1 course in Sussex
We are pleased to announce that our first adapted FA Level 1 in Coaching Football course is now available for candidates with a disability.
We are working in partnership with the Sussex Disability Football League to provide inclusiveness to all aspiring coaches throughout Sussex. The course is specially designed and adapted for people with a disability and will take place once a month at Sussex County FA headquarters, which is also the home of the Sussex Disability Football League.
The course is available for 16 candidates with a range of disabilities within the county who will receive full support before, during and after the completion of the qualification. The adapted course will consist of shorter learning blocks and all participants will be supported by a team of mentors on a 3:1 learner to mentor/tutor ratio.
The duration of the course will run throughout the 2018/19 season and once completed the coaches will be given support coaches at their clubs by FA Coach Mentors.
Funding has been made available to ensure that the course is easily accessible to aspiring coaches wishing to take the route into football coaching. Included in the course is the FA Safeguarding Children Workshop and FA Emergency First Aid in Football, with the option of gaining the qualification of FA Coaching Disabled Footballers.
Jade Harker, Sussex County FA Football Development Officer who leads on Disability says: "This is an exciting opportunity for people with a disability to take their first steps on the coaching ladder.
“Working with the Sussex Disability Football League has been key in the early stages of the project as both organisations fully believe that Football is for all.”
