Becoming a Referee

Thank you for your interest in becoming a referee, the following information will explain the FOUR STEPS you need to complete to become a fully qualified referee:

Introduction to Refereeing Evening:

The 'Introduction to Refereeing Evening' is the first step to becoming a referee. Over the two hours you will be guided through the refereeing experience looking at all formats of the game and the opportunities available. If you decide to start your refereeing journey the ‘Referee Course’ (11v11 or 9v9 football) may only be a few weeks away. It is strongly recommend that parents of all candidates attend this taster session to gain a full understanding of the commitment required to complete the course.

It is a mandatory requirement to have attended an introduction evening before enrolling on a Referee Course.

As a side note, if you are still playing, you may need to make a decision as to whether you continue to focus on this route in football, or indeed sacrifice this to focus on being a referee. It is difficult to balance both, and trainees would expected to sign up to a league and solely referee each week.
