Chairman receives FA Honorary Membership

Sussex County FA Chairman, Peter Bentley, was yesterday presented with Honorary Membership of The FA.
Peter has given thirteen years service to The FA, serving on many Committees during that time, including in 2004 as Chairman of the Representative Match Committee responsible for the England “C” Team - made up of grass roots players; which he considers to be the highlight of his administrative involvement in football.

His involvement with football started well over sixty years ago whilst at school; where he progressed on to have trials with both West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers. In 1975 he was elected to the Sussex County FA Council and appointed to the Competition Committee of which he still serves on to date. He was appointed as Chairman of the Sussex County Football League in 1976, resigning due to ill health this year, and was elected as Chairman of the Sussex County FA in 2003.

Peter was presented with his award by Roger Burden, Deputy Chairman of The FA and Chairman of The FA National Game Board, along with Barry Bright, Chairman of The FA Council.

Over 40 people made up of FA Council Members, Sussex County FA Council Members and Peter’s family were present at the Sussex County FA HQ to witness the event.
