Sussex Football raises £2,381 for the NSPCC
Over £2,300 was raised for the NSPCC at the Sussex Community Shield match which was held between Sussex Senior Challenge Cup winners, Horsham and Southern Combination Football League Champions, Steyning Town Community.
Horsham beat Steyning Town Community 5-0 to claim to Sussex Community Shield back in July and the sum was presented to Carole Naunton and Peter Bowers of the NSPCC by our Stadium Manager Adrian Howell.
NSPCC are an independent charity that receives 90% of its funding from supporters and rely on the support of the people to keep children safe.
Chair of the NSPCC South & Mid Sussex Branch, Carole Naunton had this to say: “Very many thanks to Sussex County FA for partnering with the NSPCC at their Sussex Community Shield match this summer. The money raised from the match day makes a huge difference to local children and young people by helping support valuable NSPCC services, like our Speak Out, Stay Safe schools’ programme, Childline and adult helpline.
"Sussex County FA's work to promote safe and inclusive participation in football, at every level of the game, aligns particularly well with the NSPCC’s overall aims and ambitions.”
Ken Benham, Chief Executive of the Sussex County FA, added: “We’re over the moon to have raised £2,381 for our charitable partners the NSPCC.
“We couldn’t have done it without the support of local businesses that supported the event and of course the fans who contributed to the fundraising, it was another memorable occasion to kick-off the footballing calendar.”
