Women in Football regional hub launch
We were delighted to be in attendance as Brighton & Hove Albion’s Women’s Equality Network and Women in Football hosted a brilliant new event, which took place earlier this summer at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre.
It was the first-ever Women in Football regional meet up aimed at bringing people from the Sussex and Surrey region together for an evening of networking, conversation and a tour of the Women & Girls’ building.
They were able showcase the great work Brighton are doing for women’s football, as well as providing a supportive group event where colleagues can network whilst meeting new allies.
It was fantastic chance to meet others working in football locally and understand more about the challenges faced by groups working in grassroots, County FAs and community spaces.
In attendance, we had, Jade Harker, Abi Knight, Paul Ofei-Kwatia, and Asycha Woods, from the Football Development team, as well as Education Officer, Lisa Benn, Facilities & Investment Officer Beckie Street, and Sussex County FA Directors, Georgia Rooney and Michelle Clark.
Speaking of the event, Michelle said: “I was delighted to take part in the fireside chat for the Women in Football network event and share my career journey so far.
“Coming from a non-football background I talked about how having the confidence to take steps into the unknown and build connections and networks can be so powerful individually but also bring a richness of diversity of experience and knowledge to football.
“Being in a truly inspirational setting also gave us some positive energy in how these steps we all take individually can bring about a positive change to the game both now and in the future.”
