Mathew’s family have asked us to communicate that a service of commemoration will take place at 12 noon on Friday 12 May 2023, at The Downs Crematorium, Bear Road, Brighton, BN2 3PL. Family flowers only.

The service will be followed by further tributes in the Heineken lounge at the American Express Community Stadium, Village Way, Brighton, BN1 9BL.

Mathew was a huge advocate and supporter of disability football, so the family would invite anyone wishing to make donations to the Sussex Disability Football League via the following link:

Please be aware that the offices at our headquarters in Lancing will be closed for the day, telephone calls will be diverted to answer machine where messages can be left. Email communication will not be affected, though response time, if required from staff members, may increase. This is to allow our staff to attend the services and pay their respects.

Mathew sadly passed away last week at the age of 65, having battled courageously against oesophageal cancer over the past year. All of us here at Sussex County FA continue to send our condolences to Matt’s family and friends during this difficult period.
