Disability Confident

Disability Confident Award Achieved

We commit to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded the Level 1 (Disability Committed) of the Government’s Disability Confident Employer Scheme. This means, we have made a commitment to ensuring that our recruitment process and our working environment is inclusive for people with a disability.

There are 7.6 million working age people who have a disability or health condition so we’re tapping into this talent pool and looking forward to working with a range of skilled people.

Disability Confident organisations play a leading role in changing attitudes for the better. They’re changing behaviour and cultures in their own businesses, networks and communities, and we are delighted to be a part of this community of forward thinking and inclusive businesses.

We believe the scheme will help us recruit and retain great people, we want to actively remove any barriers to people with a disability or those with long-term health conditions and ensure that people with a disability have the opportunity to fulfil their full potential.

Level 1: Disability Confident Committed
Since being recognised as a Disability Confident Organisation, we have identified the following actions that we will carry out to make a difference for people with a disability:

The commitments are:
Ensure inclusive and accessible recruitment
Communicating vacancies with disability specific organisations
 Offering interviews to disabled people
 Providing reasonable adjustments and support
 Supporting existing employees
Encouraging job shadowing to people with a disability
Challenge attitudes towards disability and increase awareness and understanding of disability

Jade Harker (Development Lead) had the following to say: “Being a part of change is an exciting prospect, here at Sussex County FA we are committed to making changes within our own organisation, but we are also here to support our clubs on their journey to being more inclusive.”
