FA FIVES Postponed

Nationwide football festival delayed due to EURO 2020 postponement

In light of ongoing developments in the spread of COVID-19 across Europe, UEFA has now announced that EURO 2020 has been postponed until next summer.

Following this decision and UK Government’s advice yesterday that led to all grassroots football being suspended for the foreseeable future, the decision has been taken to postpone The FA FIVES.

In Sussex, this will include the scheduled events at our HQ in Lancing and those at Horsham and Eastbourne Borough.

As you’ll all be aware, The FA FIVES was planned to be the biggest five-a-side football festival this country has seen, and an integral part of the build-up to UEFA EURO 2020.

It is funded by DCMS through Sport England and promoted in partnership with BBC Sport. The FA will now be working closely with UEFA, DCMS and the BBC to work through the new scenario, and very much hope that The FA FIVES can be rescheduled in line with the new EURO tournament dates next year.

The postponement of The FA FIVES is of course hugely disappointing for everyone involved but people’s health and well-being is naturally everyone’s primary concern. Further information on The FA’s announcement on this can be found here.

At Sussex County FA, we’re still very excited about delivering the nation’s most inclusive five-a-side festival. We are extremely grateful to the teams who engaged with The FA FIVES and they will be the first to know of plans to reschedule once discussions with the relevant stakeholders have taken place!

We appreciate your patience at this time.
