To help safeguard the future of Sussex football over £60,000 is being invested into our grassroots game to support clubs following the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The investment will see all our clubs receive FREE Public Liability Insurance from our providers Bluefin Sport for the 2020/21 season, and affiliation fees reduced by £15 per team.
Clubs will also be able to request an affiliation fee payment deferral of up to 3-months from the start of the season, to help grassroots football get alive and kicking again.
Following the abrupt finish to the football season, Personal Accident Insurance policies will be discounted to account for the period of inactivity; and our staff will be made available to offer tailored support to clubs during the affiliation period, including 1-on-1 online drop-in session.
Our Football Services Manager, Ollie Powell, said: “Following an extensive consultation with our clubs regarding the impact of the Coronavirus, and a very wet winter, we are delighted to be able to offer this substantial financial support to help clubs and football as a whole recover.
“The results of our consultation helped us identify where clubs felt they needed the most support, and this funding, with support from The FA, Sport England and Bluefin Sport, should ensure we kick-off the 2020/21 season, whenever that may be, in just as strong if not stronger position than last season.
“We will open our affiliation window on Monday 8 June, and our staff will be on hand to assist clubs through the process in the Whole Game System. Any clubs wishing to take advantage of the 3-month payment deferral can do so once they have submitted their affiliation.”
Details of the affiliation process will be published and circulated to clubs very soon.
