COGS are finalists in the Women’s Sport Trust #BeAGameChanger Awards

Crawley Old Girls are amongst the Women’s Sport Trust #BeAGameChanger Awards 2018 finalists and they need your support!

Women’s Sport Trust is a charity that is focused on using the power of sport to accelerate gender equality and stimulate social change. Founded in 2012, the charity raises the visibility and increases the impact of women’s sport through promotion of diverse athlete role models, increasing media coverage and improving the funding landscape.

Recently, the Women’s Sport Trust revealed the 28 individuals, teams, organisations and initiatives that have been selected as finalists for the #BeAGameChanger Awards. The aims of the awards are to recognise those individuals and organisations that are doing the most to progress women’s sport.

Crawley Old Girls have been nominated in the Inspiring Initiative - local category for their outstanding work in giving older women the opportunity to play football. Since forming in 2015 by Carol Bates, COGS have gone from strength to strength - originally having ten women turn up on the first night to now running beginner, intermediate and advanced sessions with over 100 recorded attendees.

In contention with COGS for the Inspiring Initiative - local category are Opening Boundaries #BowlingOut Campaign and Muslimah Sports Association (MSA).

For more information on the finalists, visit Women’s Sport Trust.

The awards consist of various different categories which have the aim of bringing together the visionaries and game changers driving the future of women’s sport for one of the biggest nights in the sporting calendar.
