AITC support Disability Pledge Project

The Sussex County FA’s Disability Football Pledge Project has had a huge impact on clubs throughout Sussex; here’s how Albion in the Community...

AITC is the largest provider of football opportunities for people with a disability in the area and delivers more than twenty five regular sessions across the county.

The charity, which this year is celebrating twenty years of the Albion’s disability football work, is now backing Sussex County FA’s efforts to collect pledges from local clubs aimed at improving football opportunities for people with a disability.

AITC’s disability manager Paul Brackley and Sussex County FA’s disability football development officer Jade Harker recently spoke to more than forty junior clubs at the AGM of the Horsham & District Youth Football League.

Jade Harker said: “Working in partnership with Paul and AITC this season has been fantastic and together we are able to influence further opportunities and support those who want to be involved within the game of disability football.”

And AITC has now issued its own pledge, which reads: “Albion in the Community will continue to provide the best possible opportunities for people with a disability to participate in football at all levels, with a clear pathway available to players who have the talent and desire to compete locally, regionally and nationally.”

Paul Brackley, AITC’s disability manager, said: “Providing people who have a disability with the opportunity to play football is something that is incredibly important to everyone at Albion in the Community and we are delighted to support Sussex County FA’s Disability Football Pledge project.

“It is fantastic to see so many local clubs and organisations embracing disability football. Well done to the Sussex County FA for making sure it is something more and more people are taking an interest in.”

This has already made a very positive impact on disability football throughout Sussex with more playing opportunities being made available and coaches actively increasing their knowledge of the game.
