PLAYERS WEARING GLASSES

3:54 PM, Tuesday, 08 December 09.

The FA National Development Manager for Disability has informed County FAs that there is a charity that may be able to assist children with a donation towards specialist sports glasses.

The FA acknowledges that a number of young people who need glasses to play the game may be being excluded if it was considered that wearing normal glasses is dangerous.

There are specialist sports glasses which are approved by FIFA but they are approximately £150 per pair.

Caudwell Children is a national charity who provides help to disabled children on a number of levels. The FA has confirmed that they will accept applications from Players who need the sports glasses to be able to safely compete. A young person may be eligable for a donation providing that the need for the glasses is supported by a medical professional and a Coach/Manager. The charity cannot guarantee that the application will be successful as a number of factors are taken into consideration.
