Kick Out Racism

1:47 PM, Friday, 26 October 07.

BRIGHTON ELECTRICITY FOOTBALL CLUB

Brighton Electricity FC set the standard in Sussex Football for the Kick it Out - anti racism campaign. The FA Charter Standard award winning club put on the One Game, One Community shirts in their warm up just as many professional clubs will be doing during the week of action this year.

The Club have got strong links with The University of Brighton and have encouraged players from their Afro-Caribbean Society to be part of their set up. The Brighton League Premier Club have had an incredible 7 different African nations represented in their squad which is a massive achievement for a grassroots club. As part of the week of action around the country there are events ranging from football festivals to photography projects to lessons in schools. Professional clubs, football fans, schools, minority groups, local authorites and universities are amongst those who have organised initiatives with the aim of tackling exclusion and celebrating diversity.

This also links to Black History Month.

Brighton Electricity FC have won The FA Charter Standard Sussex FA Award in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and are sponsored by EDF Energy. They offer free football to all players in higher education and have qualified coaches working with the team.
