Girls’ Football

Girls’ football is booming in England with the number of affiliated girls playing the game up 10 per cent in the past year. The FA works with the English Schools FA, the Independent Schools FA, the English Colleges FA, British College Sport, British Universities Sports Association , County FA’s, County Sports Partnerships, School Sport Partnerships and the PFA’s Football in the Community schemes to introduce youth competition to help support the growth in demand from women and girls to play football.

There are now 116 junior girls’ teams affiliated to Sussex County FA.

The Sussex County FA is available to assist in the development of all aspects of the women’s and girls’ game with the primary aim being to increase participation and improve access to local playing opportunities. Examples of how this is done include:

  • Curriculum time coaching sessions
  • Lunchtime / After Schools sessions
  • School - Club Links
  • Local Authority sessions
  • Holiday Courses
  • Taster Sessions
  • Festivals and Competitions

If you are a player seeking somewhere to play, a club wanting to expand their age groups or a coach seeking information on how to advance your knowledge of the game, contact michelle.lawrence@sussexfa.com for more information.
