Information on Referee Development Officer and County Training Officer roles
I write to inform you that effective of 1st January 2008 Tim Lawrence stepped down from his role as, Sussex County Football Association County Training Officer (CTO); due to increased work and family commitments. Fortunately for the SCFA, Tim is not walking away completely and will still be involved in the Training / Instructing set-up within the County. I am sure that you, along with myself would like to acknowledge, with gratitude, all the hard work and many hours that Tim gave to the SCFA training programme – thank you Tim on behalf of the SCFA in general and the Referees Department in particular.
David King has kindly agreed to step-up from being deputy and is now the SCFA Acting County Training Officer for the foreseeable future. The SCFA Referees Department are extremely fortunate and pleased to be able to call on a well respected and experienced person and I personally would like to record my thanks to David for stepping into the breach once more. Therefore any questions that you might have in relation to SCFA Training issues should be directed to David; he can be contacted on email by using the following email address: davidking.football@tiscali.co.uk or on his home telephone number.
As for myself and the RDO Role, I am sure that you will now be fully aware that my replacement has been chosen namely, Paul Saunders and I take this opportunity to congratulate him and wish him well with his quest to give all Sussex Referees the best available training and opportunities.
I felt it sensible to also inform you of the logistics of the hand-over period. For his part, Paul officially takes up his post on 14th February 2008. For my part, from mid-January I am flying to to see my grandson and help him celebrate his second birthday. Therefore, effectively my last official day in the SCFA Office will be Friday 18th January; although I shall be taking my SCFA Mobile ‘phone with me to Australia and I will be checking and dealing with emails, as normal during the month that I am away. Once back I will be in the office for a few days to assist Paul with a sensible hand-over although I will, of course, no longer be the SCFA Referee Development Officer.
I hope that this now makes everyone aware of the changes and I wish Paul every success with the request that you all give him the same backing and loyalty that has been extended to me during my 20 months in office, I am sure that you will. It only remains for me to say THANK YOU to all of you for your help and for making my time here at the SCFA very enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
Martin Hollands
Outgoing, SCFA Referee Development Officer.
