Football & Rugby - Maintenance and management of the pitch.

IOG training courses are delivered by professional instructors who are, or have been, top level practising groundsmen. Every course is supported by a comprehensive information pack to assist in the ongoing development of skills and practises. Each delegate will receive a certificate of attendance.

Every IOG sports specific course is structered in a three-tier scheme to encourage development at various levels of appointment and responsibility.

Level 1

Focuses on the practical skills required to prepare and maintain a sports surface.

Who should attend?

This will suit all individuals (full-time, part-time and volunteer) involved in practical maintenance of a sports surface. It is particularly beneficial as an introductory course of those who are new to the profession or as a refresher course for the more seasoned groundsman who wants to keep abreast of the latest techniques.

Level 2

Explains the science and theory behind the practical elements of a level 1 course and will provide the groundsman with the required understanding to make long term assessments for the management of their facilities.

Who should attend?

This will suit any person involved in practical grounds maintenance role. It will be of particular benefit to those who have already completed a level 1 course, or as a precursor for those who would like to develop complete surface and resource management skill on a level 3 course.

Level 3

Explains the management techniques and principles required by today's experienced grounds staff to produce a safe and consistent surface. The course will cover all subjects required to today's sports turf manager.

Who should attend?

This will be suitable for experienced grounds staff and for those who have already completed an IOG level 1 and 2 course in their sporting field. This level of course would be of most benefit to those in senior or standalone positions and who are responsible for making assessments and decisions concerning the management of resources and the surface.
