Course Information:

  • Minimum Age: 17
  • Course Duration: 29 hours (to include pre-course reading and completion of self test questions)
  • Course Prerequisites: Youth Award Module 1 - Developing the Environment
  • Who is it for: Coaches of those involved in the development of junior football both at the grassroots level or in the professional game.
  • Course aims and objectives: To provide candidates who have an ongoing involvement in coaching young footballers with an opportunity to improve their knowledge and confidence in a range of key issues around developing and understanding practice. The course introduces a number of generic strands that are applicable to all players, regardless of age, and these are consolidated during module 3 of the award.

Course Content:

Theory: Workshops will consider age & maturity issues, different types of practice & the advantages and disadvantages of each, Unopposed & opposed practice development , dealing with talented players and issues in planning & evaluating.

Practical Involvement: This is a practically based course. Different types of practices will be demonstrated and delivered and candidates will be expected to evaluate these practices as well as plan, deliver and evaluate their own practices. Candidates will be encouraged to take part and those not taking part will be expected to build on their evaluating and observation skills

Assessment: The course has a formative assessment. Which includes planning, delivery & evaluation of a practice. Candidates receive an action plan as a result of the observations made by the tutor.
