For whom?
Candidates over 16 years old requiring a formal introduction to coaching football. Upon successful completion, candidates are awarded the FA Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football - Assistant Club Coach.
This course is ideally suited to those who are working with children and young people and wish to acquire a base level of competence in the following areas :

Course Content:
Theory :
* FA Emergency Aid workshop.
* FA Safeguarding Children workshop.
* Completion of Candidate Resources portfolio which includes distance learning tasks relating to :
• Player & coach development – including LTPD & Mini soccer.
• Football Club Administration.
• Soccer Parent.
• Football for All.
• Laws of the Game.
• Delivery of Football Coaching Activities.
Practical :
Practical elements of the course include participation in football coaching activities relating to the following :
* Passing & control * Dribbling & turning * Shooting
* Heading * Goalkeeping * 1v1 attack/defence
* 2v2, 3v3 combination play * Game understanding – attack & defence.
Candidates are expected to participate in practical performance and delivery of football coaching activities throughout the course through a mixture of tutor-led and peer group
sessions.

Assessment:
Assessment for this course is via successful completion of :
• Candidate Resource portfolio tasks.
• Practical delivery of a 20-minute football coaching activity which clearly demonstrates safe practice, organisation, enjoyment, fun and progression to the needs of the players.
Leading To:
FA/1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football.
