In December 2006 The FA introduced a new workshop The FA’s Welfare Officer Workshop (WOW) for Club Child Protection Officers.
Recognising the crucial role Welfare Officers play, The FA has developed specific training for grass roots football clubs. While The FA is delighted that clubs have already taken the proactive step of appointing a Child Protection Officer, they are strongly recommending that clubs take the next step to make sure that the Child Protection Officer will have all the necessary skills to feel confident in their role.
In order to take part in these workshops your Club Child Protection Officer must have;
• An enhanced CRB Disclosure via The FA CRB Unit and have a positive recruitment decision
• Attended a FA Child Protection and Best Practice Workshop within the last 3 years.
